gee, dubya...
a.p. junkie bee fee's political rant - BEWARE! this might make us fight, so bring it on if you must.
I don't think anyone could have anticipated the breach of the levees.I don't think anyone could have anticipated airplanes crashing into buildings.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that a dumb-ass-wanna-be-cowpoke could become president.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that the U.S. government would be involved with the events of september 11, 2001.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that JFK was shot by more than one person.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that the Bush Family was financially supporting the Nazi uprising.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that The Carlyle Group and other multimillion dollar investment corporations profited from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq (among all other military installations, contracts, etc.)I don't think anyone could have anticipated that hundreds of thousands of people could be killed by atomic weapons.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that Vice President Dick Cheney was benefiting personally from his former employer's no-bid contracts with the U.S. government.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that the USCIA was involved with the Contras of Nicaragua or the Shah of Iran, or that either of these parties were connected to each other in any way.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that the release of the hostages from Iran was delayed and timed to coincide with Ronald Reagan's inauguration day. I don't think anyone could have anticipated that George H.W. Bush (then soon to be Vice President) was the head of the USCIA at the time of the hostage taking and eventual release.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that people in the most impoverished part of the U.S.A. would be left to rot on their rooftops following a declaration of a national emergency.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that there would not be enough National Guard troops located in the continental U.S. available to immediately assist in the cleanup and establishment of order following a declaration of a national emergency.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that the war in Iraq was initiated to secure and redistribute the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world.I don't think anyone could have anticipated that the war in Afghanistan was begun to secure the building of an oil pipeline for privately held oil corporations.
[feel free to add more]Ex-FEMA Chief Tied to Hurricane Relief LobbyingThe website TalkingPointsMemo is reporting that the former head of FEMA, Joe Allbaugh, may stand to profit from the catastrophe in the Gulf region through his various lobbying efforts. President Bush tapped Allbaugh to head FEMA after he served as Bush's campaign manager during the 2000 election. He headed FEMA until March 2003 just as the U.S. was launching its invasion of Iraq. Then Allbaugh helped form a lobbying firm called New Bridge Strategies in order to help clients "take advantage of business opportunities in the Middle East following the conclusion of the U.S.-led war in Iraq." New Bridge Strategies was also formed by several top executives from the lobbying firm then known as Barbour Griffith & Rogers. The head of that firm was Haley Barbour who is now the Republican governor of Mississippi. Earlier this year Joe Allbaugh signed on as a lobbyist for Halliburton subsidiary KBR in order to "educate the congressional and executive branch on defense, disaster relief and homeland security issues." Just last week the federal government announced that Halliburton would be hired to repair the Gulf Coast military bases damaged by Katrina. And now the Washington Post is reporting that Allbaugh is also helping Louisiana "coordinate the private-sector response to the storm."

on the street with reverend fee - part 2

If you cannot locate a trash can immediately, please hold onto the food wrapper until a trash can appears on the next corner. Please accept the piece of trash when I hand it back to you.

Please do not blow your cigarette smoke in my face when you know full well that I quit smoking over a year ago and the wind is blowing.

Please do not stare at me when I am eating ice cream.

Please do not give my friend a dirty look when you run over her ankle with your suitcase.

Please do not hock your lugie in my path. Please wait until I pass, then you may hock the lugie anywhere you would like.

Please do not tip over that stack of boxes with breakable things of liquid just as we are walking by.

For Cars: You may have forgotten the driver's education instructions part about pedestrians (people who are walking) having the right of way. This phrase means that you must wait for walking people to cross before you turn onto 8th Avenue from the second lane that you have just created. (Special note: the cup of coffee that you see in my hand has a special attraction to windshields). Also note cars: you cannot honk your horn at other cars who are waiting for pedestrians to cross 8th Avenue.

For those psychics sitting in the chairs on the 8th Avenue sidewalk: you should know by now that Mad Ann Flint doesn't want to come in and have a reading. (from Mad Ann Flint) http://madannflint.blogspot.com

No, I don't want to buy the Newports for $5 but I do wonder how you can sell them so cheaply!

I know you have nice bags, nice bags for $10 but when I am ready to purchase nice bags, I will enter your store. It is not polite to sell on the street when you have a nice store from which to sell.

on the street with reverend fee

on the street with reverend fee

1. Please walk in a single file line and do not double up on the sidewalk. I will not stop to let you and your 6-friends-wide posse pass when I am in a hurry to get to my job. I have a job and must go to work by a certain time. Please take this into consideration.

2. If I don't take the flyer from you as I begin passing, I will not take it after I have passed you or anytime while I am passing you. I see you and I do not want the flyer. Next time, I will give you specific instructions in writing. Also, if you see me carrying things in both of my hands you are going to have to put the flyer right in my pocket.

3. If you see me carrying an extra large package with both hands, (heavy!) or maybe trailing an extra large rolling cart of supplies behind me, please move over to make room for me on the sidewalk. I know you see me!

4. If you see me walking on the sidewalk in a quick-like motion, in one straight path, in a steady stride, please do not come at me from an angle and cross in front of me at the last moment. Please wait for me to pass, or please alter your angle so that our paths do not cross so closely. Feel free to cross in front of me if you are between 5 and 10 feet away from me.

5. Please try to maintain a right-side-of-the-sidewalk walking practice.

6. Commuters: If you are walking down 7th Avenue towards Penn Station between the hours of 4:00-7:00 PM, please leave a single lane for me on the right side of the sidewalk so that I may walk uptown.

7. If you are walking down the sidewalk doing some window shopping or strolling, please stay on the right side of the street (windows should be on your right).

8. If you are walking down the sidewalk going to a certain place, with me walking behind you, but then you happen to see something in a window that you'd like to look at more closely, please move into the next lane. But before this: Turn your head slightly back and into the lane you will enter, (corner glance) check to see if anyone is back there, and then cross over to the window. More to follow!
